Renault 5 Turbo 3E is sold in Europe, including the UK, as well as in the Middle East, Australia and Japan.
Competing concepts are emerging. How do you stand out against the power of these machines?
For the moment, these "competitors" are just concepts. Secondly, it's not just a question of the race for power; we have to offer a product that is very coherent for the category: acceleration, agility, drift, load speed... What Renault 5 Turbo 3E has to offer.
Will prices be higher in 2026?
This is not formally planned. However, the advertised price remains a provisional recommended retail price for the vehicle, subject to change on the date sales open.
The brand
How does R5 Turbo 3E fit in with the brand's global approach?
A unique project, the R5 Turbo 3E is a Renault vehicle because of the brand's history (same family as Renault R5 Turbo, dating from the 80s).
Will the car have an Alpine label?
The R5 Turbo 3E will not have an Alpine label, as it is a Renault vehicle like its 1980 predecessor, R5 Turbo.
Will former CEO Luca De Meo's departure have an impact on R5 Turbo 3E?
No, the project has been decided, development has begun, so there's no risk whatsoever.

The car can be used for short trips or longer journeys, and will feature air conditioning, adaptive cruise control, radio, navigation and some storage space.
Will there be a specific steering wheel?
This is not a standard Renault 5 steering wheel, but the one used by Alpine on its A290 and A390 models, which gives us access to the regenerative braking adjustment knob and overboost button. However, the steering wheel trim will be exclusive to R5 Turbo 3E and the customisation options chosen.
What types of harnesses and seats are available?
The seats and harnesses are identical to those on the A110 R. They are still being studied to determine what improvements can be made. The trim will be exclusive to R5 Turbo 3E and the customisation options chosen.
Bodywork
What will the exterior door handles look like?
We are currently investigating non-visible door handles. We'll get back to you when the study is complete and a decision has been made based on the pros and cons.
Will the bodywork be all-carbon?
The platform is aluminium with a few carbon parts, while the superstructure (upper part) is carbon composite.
Will there be a rear wiper?
No, there's no rear wiper.
Is it possible to fit R5 Turbo 3E with a functional rear diffuser?
This diffuser is as functional as any other part of the car. Everything in the vehicle is designed for performance, aerodynamics and efficiency.
Will the livery be painted or vinyl wrap?
This will depend on the livery, which is not yet fully defined, but both solutions are possible.
What type of mirrors will R5 Turbo 3E have?
The mirrors are taken from Renault 5 E-Tech electric, and are homologated for this model too.
To make the rear diffuser more effective, haven't we considered removing the bumper?
When defining this car, we are of course looking for maximum performance, and in particular the optimum level of downforce, but we also take design and safety into account. The diffuser definition is the best possible compromise.
Due to homologation constraints, will the front bumper and diffuser change?
Aero optimisations are currently being developed with our prototypes. Not everything has been approved yet, but if there are any changes, they will be subtle.
Wheels and tyres
Why didn't you opt for carbon wheels?
We chose forged aluminum technology, which is already very efficient in terms of mass.
Who will be the tyre manufacturer?
Michelin is one of the manufacturers we work with to offer the best tyres for this car.
Will the wheel model presented in the first livestream change?
These are working wheels, so they'll be black.
What are the tyre dimensions?
The rear tyres are 275/35 R20, compared with 245/35 R20 at the front.
Are the shock absorbers adjustable?
Yes, the shock absorbers will be manually adjustable.
Prototype
Have prototypes already been tested or are they still in the design phase?
The first prototype was presented to you for the first time on June 26. There will be various test phases throughout its development.
Is the prototype we saw on the live stream definitive?
The prototype is 95% representative, and there will be a few evolutions and potential adjustments on the production vehicle, notably on the front and rear bumpers to optimise aerodynamics.
Dimensions and weights
How light will R5 Turbo 3E be?
The weight will be less than 1450 kg. We're aiming for 1,400 kg.
What are the dimensions of the R5 Turbo 3E?
Here are the technical specifications of R5 Turbo 3E: length 4.08 m, width 2.03 m, height 1.38 m.
What is the ground clearance of the R5 Turbo 3E?
R5 Turbo 3E's ground clearance is 118 mm.
Power and motor
How do you get that 4800 Nm of torque to the ground?
Efficient torque transfer to the ground is achieved by working on the tyres and weight distribution.
How do you explain the 4800 Nm of torque?
The torque of a wheel motor is not directly comparable to that of a conventional motor, since there is no reduction ratio between motor and wheel. That said, performance remains at a very high level, with a 0 to 100 km/h time of less than 3.5 s.
How reliable is the in-wheel motor technology?
The wheel-motor is certainly an innovation, but it's a realistic solution because we've corrected the increase in unsprung mass by designing the rear axle. What's more, the wheel-motor brings considerable advantages such as instant torque, agility and a lower centre of gravity, all of which enhance performance and driving pleasure.
How long does it take R5 Turbo 3E to go from 0 to 100 km?
R5 Turbo 3E accelerates from 0 to 100 km in less than 3.5 seconds.
How will wheel motor traction be managed?
The car generates the same rear axle compression as a conventional motor.
Are unsprung masses a problem with wheel motors?
No, because even though these unsprung masses are higher than with a conventional electric motor, we have taken them into account in the dimensioning of all related components (suspension wishbones, hub carriers, dampers, springs, etc.), as well as in the suspension kinematics.
If the car doesn't generate compression on acceleration, how will it be controlled?
This will be done by electronic management, which will be more efficient with the architecture of the in-wheel motor (faster exchanges between the wheel sensor and the electric motor).
Are there any plans to install a "dummy gearbox"?
There are no plans to create torque breaks to simulate gear changes, as this is not in keeping with the quest for performance. On the other hand, we're working on the acoustics to give Renault 5 Turbo 3E a special soundscape, to maximise driving sensations.
Other components
Will it be a "drive by wire" system?
The steering system is traditional, with no wired transmission.
Will carbon ceramic brakes be available as an option?
To date, this is not planned.
What is the diameter of the brakes?
Brake disc diameter is 380 mm at the front and 450 mm at the rear. The large diameter at the rear is due to the architecture of the motor-wheel and the use of a peripheral disc.

An external charge indicator is not planned for R5 Turbo 3E, mainly to save weight.
How efficient is R5 Turbo 3E's battery?
R5 Turbo 3E's battery technology is already highly advanced (NMC chemistry, 800 V electrical architecture, 330 kW DC load). We're continuing to work on his performance to be at his best in 2027.
Will it be possible to change the battery?
Yes, it will be possible to replace the battery if necessary.
Will it be possible to install a range extender?
No, this is not planned.
What is the real range of R5 Turbo 3E?
It's difficult to give a real range value, as it depends very much on the driving profile (city, road, motorway, track, etc.). The aim is for the car to be usable on a daily basis and capable of satisfying track sessions. In terms of WLTP certification, we should exceed 400 km.
